Here are a few sample book trailers. Note that a majority of the images and icons used in these trailers were found inside the Adobe Voice app -- there was no need to search for images in advance.

Adobe Voice Assignment

You will be creating a book trailer for your independent reading book using the Adobe Voice app on a library iPad. Your book trailer will consist of a slideshow of several slides with images, narrated by you and accompanied by music available inside the Adobe Voice app.
(Your teacher will give you instructions about the content and length of your trailer).

Homework: Before you Record

1. Plan your trailer (use this google doc to help you plan; make a copy if you want to edit it).

• Images: What images will you need to evoke the themes, plot, characters, setting and/or mood of the book? (write down ideas for images before searching for any)

• Flow: How many slides will you need in your slide show to create your trailer? Map out the flow/order of your slide show.
  
  
• Narration: For each slide, what do you want to say? Write a script to accompany each slide. How much of this do you want to show as text on the slide vs. narrating with your own voice?

2. Find your images: You must use copyright-free images! Since these trailers may ultimately published online on the library website or book blog, you cannot use other people's images that you find online unless the creators of those images have chosen a copyright that allows sharing (i.e., creative commons license). Good places to look for copyright-free images:

• Wikimedia Commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page)
  
  

• Flickr Creative Commons (https://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/). Use the search box and under License at the top, select images with a "Creative commons only"

• If you choose to use Google images, you must search for images with a copyright license that allows you to use them! This takes a few steps:

• or take your own pictures, or use images/icons available inside the Adobe Voice app!

Download the image to your computer, then upload it from your computer into your NPS Google Drive (instructions below). NOTE: write down the name of the image and the owner of the image so that you can credit them in your bibliography.

3. Save your images to a folder on your computer desktop

               --- DO NOT save your images by copy/pasting into a document. Save each image file to a folder.

4. Upload images (your own or the ones you found online) to your NPS Google Drive

• Click "New" --> "File upload"
  

  

   

• Choose the image to upload or upload the folder

   

• Make sure the “convert” buttons are turned off

• IMPORTANT - you need to upload the pictures as images, not paste them into a Drive Document or a Presentation. Later you will need to download these images to the iPads in the library

5. Use EasyBib to create a bibliography for this project. In your bibliography you need to include a citation for the book you read, and for each of the images that you use (unless they come from inside the Adobe Voice app). To cite an image in EasyBib, go to All 59 Options and select Digital image. Complete the form (find everything you can -- try not to leave things blank) and create citation. 

6. Get a public link to your bibliography in EasyBib (under Share). Paste this into a Google Doc so you can use it on the last slide of your book trailer.

7. When you come to the library with your class, you should already have a collection of images in Google Drive (or ideas for images you want to search for in Adobe Voice), your script and flow for the book trailer, and a public link to your bibliography.
