Mote Audio

Mote Chrome Extension

To use the mote audio-recorder, you need to add the Mote Chrome Extension to your Chrome browser.

Click "allow" and grant ALL permissions (be sure to check the boxes for allowing Mote to access your Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Slides!) This will allow you to see the Mote tool when you open a new Google Slides presentation:

To add audio to your slide, simply click on the Mote icon at the top of your Google Slides menu, record your audio, and place it on the slide where you want it. Your audio will automatically begin playing when you are in Present mode in Google slides.

Tips & Tricks

  • Prepare to type accents/special characters for your language by opening a language keyboard in another tab. You can type the accented character you need then copy/paste into your Adobe Spark video.
  • Plan a Storyboard for each section - what will you say? What images will you need to  accompany your words?
  • You will be able to search for images and icons from within the Adobe Spark application. If you want to use your own images, upload them to your Google Drive.
  • Click “new” --> “File upload” File Upload example

  • Choose the image to upload

  • IMPORTANT - you should UPLOAD the pictures as images, not paste them into a Drive Document or a Presentation. Then you will be able to connect your Google Drive to Adobe Spark and import images directly from Google Drive

  • IMPORTANT - Google Drive and Adobe Spark will not recognize high resolution or live photos from iPhones that are .heic format. To change them to .jpg, screenshot them with your phone and use the screenshot version instead.

  1. For a Storyboard - for each slide, write down exactly what you will say, and what image will go with it. Proofread your vocabulary and grammar and practice your pronunciation.

  2. Print your script and PRACTICE. A suggestion - print the script in a very large font, it's easier to read.

Here's what you do if you accidentally saved your images in a Google Doc instead of saving them separately as .jpg files in Google Drive:

  • If it's just 1 or 2 pictures, you should just take a screenshot of them and these will save as .jpg on your desktop (Mac) or in your downloads (Chromebook). To take a screenshot on a Chromebook hold down 3 keys:  Shift key, Ctrl key and the Switch window key. Then drag across the image to select it.

  • If you have many photos pasted into a Google doc, it's best to download the whole doc as a webpage. This will create a .zip file in your downloads. Double click on the .zip file to extract it. A folder called images will appear with all of the images from your Google doc saved as separate .jpg files. You can upload these images to Adobe Spark from this folder in your downloads.
